Ideas are being transformed into engaging startups at the RAD5 Startup Incubation program
Following the rising need to raise solution-focused businesses that will tackle prevalent problems in the community headlong, RAD5 Tech Hub recently launched her startup pre-incubation program to transform ideas into thriving startups.
Known as RAD5 Startup Launchpad, the incubation program is channeled at taking participants through the step by step process of actively working on an idea and further molding it into an engaging startup that will not only tackle a particular societal problem but will also generate revenue along the way.
And for the past 8 weeks, participants have been drilled on Business Model Canvas, Buyer Persona, Idea Validation, Value Proposition, Sales and Marketing, Team Building, Leadership and even Funding.
Apart from the in-house tutors, entrepreneurs and business professionals like Chris Obasi, Chibuike Anosike, Chimaobi Okoro and Barr. Abasiye Esienumoh took participants on Sales, Branding and Legal guidelines for startups. Their classes exposed the participants on real life happening, expectations and challenges to expect as startups and budding entrepreneurs.
Participants at the launchpad were also exposed to field observation and active engagement with their supposed clientele in real life setting.
While stating the core focus of the incubation program, Igwe Uguru, Co-founder of RAD5 Tech Hub, enthused that the program is in line with the culture and value of the hub.
For Igwe, the hub is not only focused on helping businesses scale using technology, but also on incubating startups and transforming solution-focused ideas into thriving platforms.
“We have had the privilege of receiving active business professionals at the incubation program to speak and intimate the participants on real life experiences and even things to expects as young startups.
“This goes a long way to not only prepare the participants, but also to inspire and motivate them to know that their startups can indeed make exponential impact in the community.” Igwe stated.
With most of the participants doubling as software developers, the program opened them to business strategies and terminologies that are way outside the core technology field they’re into.
It also provided an avenue for them to understand their roles as techies in a start-up and other projects.
For Candor Dennis, a participant at the Launchpad, the experience has been exhilarating and adventurous at the same time.
Candor’s startup alongside other four startups is focused at delivering fresh foodstuff to homes that have little to no time to head to the market and make purchases.
For her, solving the problem of different working class women and busy single persons in the community gives her fulfillment and a great sense of satisfaction.
“I’m so grateful for the Launchpad because it has helped to fine-tune my idea and has also given me a sense of direction when it comes to service delivery and customer relationship. It’s just amazing what one can learn within the space of 8weeks. It has indeed been a humbling experience.” She explained.
With barely 4 weeks to the end of the program, the journey has indeed been worthwhile. And for John Nnanna, Google Developer Group Lead, and Co-founder of RAD5 Tech Hub, there is strong indications for the program to continue.
Nnanna is of the opinion that more ideas that will solve prevalent problems in the community are yet to be tapped, so the program will try and reach to persons with these ideas and help them transform it into startups that can be sustainable.
“What we have come to understand is that some people have brilliant ideas, but they don’t know where to go and develop. We see these cases all the time, and that’s what we wish to effectively handle.
“The Launchpad isn’t only about startup, but also about personal development, character building, teamwork and critical thinking. It’s just amazing how this Launchpad has changed lives and will continue to do so. For us, it’s a privilege to hold programs like this in our community. We do not by any means take it for granted.” He added.
